HP 712/100

I was given this machine in the summer of 2012 along with my HP Visualize C360 and Macintosh Performa 400 computers. This particular unit has the maximum 192MB of RAM with the 100MHz CPU and originally had 2 2GB 50pin SCSI hard disks from Seagate. Unfortunately and somewhat embarrassingly one of the disks failed due to being shorted out while I was trying to make an image of it!

It is one of my favourite workstations after my Digital Personal Workstaion 433au. I like how quiet it is, especially now I have removed the hard disk and replaced it with a SCSI2SD! Currently it runs a dual boot of HP-UX 10.20 and NeXTSTEP 3.3 for PA-RISC CPUs. NeXTSTEP is what I use on it most of the time due to the quite limited hobbyist media and kits available for HP-UX, however I do have some interesting things such as Microsoft Internet Explorer for UNIX running on the HP-UX side! On the NeXTSTEP front there is a surprising amount of freeware packages available for the PA-RISC build of the operating system. Expect some content on them sometime!
